Why preparation is needed
The result of the treatment depends directly on preparing the apartment. If the substance cannot reach the pests' hideouts, or the operator cannot run along the baseboards, the insects will remain. Proper preparation also protects your food, dishes, and pets. Many services tie the warranty to following these instructions.
Move furniture away from walls
Open access to baseboards, corners, and the wall-to-floor joints — exactly where the barrier product is applied and where cockroaches and bedbugs hide. Pull beds, wardrobes, and cabinets out at least 30-50 cm. If possible, clear the space behind the fridge and under the sink.
Remove food and dishes
Seal or remove all open food and products from tables and lower cabinets. Put dishes, cutlery, and baby bottles in closed cabinets or bags. Take out grains and bread. Kitchen work surfaces are wiped after treatment — but food must never contact the product.
Protect the aquarium and terrarium
Cover the aquarium tightly with a lid or film and switch off the compressor during treatment and ventilation — otherwise it will draw the product into the water. The same applies to terrariums. Ask the service how long aeration should stay off.
Take out people and animals
During treatment and exposure, no people or pets — cats, dogs, rodents, birds — should be in the apartment. Take cages and carriers with you. Remove houseplants or at least cover them. Ask the service how many hours you must stay out.
What to do after treatment
- Wait out the exposure time specified by the service without entering the apartment.
- Ventilate thoroughly — usually 2-4 hours.
- Wet-clean only contact surfaces — tables, handles, windowsills, floors in walkways. Do not wash baseboards, corners, or areas behind furniture — the active product must stay there.
- Re-make the bed with clean linen after cleaning.
Preparation by treatment type
For bedbug treatment, additionally strip the bed linen and wash it at high temperature. For rodent control of a house, clear access to areas along walls, the basement, and utility rooms. Always ask the chosen service in Chișinău for the exact checklist.
