Why choosing the service matters more than price
Pest control means working with substances that end up inside your home. The contractor's qualification affects not only the result but your family's safety. A cheap "by the eye" treatment often ends in reinfestation and a second payment to a proper company.
Legal entity — the first thing to check
A reliable service in Moldova operates as an SRL or registered sole trader. Ask for the company name and IDNO and verify them on idno.md. If the contractor won't share registration details, walk away.
Written contract and work report
The contract should record the address and area, type of treatment, substances used, cost, and warranty terms. After the work you get a report. Without these documents you cannot demand a free re-treatment.
Certified substances and safety data sheets
A good service uses products approved for residential use and, on request, shows the safety data sheets (SDS) for each substance. You should be warned about the hazard class, exposure time, and when it is safe to return.
Warranty with free re-treatment
A serious company gives a warranty (usually 1-12 months depending on the pest) and returns free of charge if insects remain. Clarify what the warranty covers and which conditions keep it valid — for example, following the preparation instructions.
Transparent pricing
The price depends on clear parameters: area, infestation level, pest type, single treatment or service contract. The final figure is named before the visit or after inspection — with no surprises mid-job. Get a quote from 2-3 services in Chișinău or Bălți.
Red flags
- Refusing a written contract and report.
- Price 30%+ below market — saving on substances or dosage.
- No fixed office or landline.
- Won't name the substances or hazard class.
- Verbal-only warranty or no warranty.
How to compare offers
Make a simple table: price including all work, treatment method (gel, spray, cold or hot fog), warranty term, contract availability, reviews. Look for real reviews on Google Business and Facebook, not only the company site.
If a dispute arises
If the service fails its obligations and refuses a warranty visit, the contract and report are the basis of your claim. If it won't resolve the issue, contact ANPC Moldova, the consumer protection agency.
