Why treat a plot against ticks and mosquitoes

Ticks and mosquitoes turn your own yard into a risk zone: it becomes hard to walk with children, relax on the lawn, or do the garden. Treating the plot creates a protective barrier and significantly reduces the number of biting insects for the season.

Why ticks are dangerous

Ticks transmit serious diseases, primarily Lyme disease (borreliosis) and tick-borne encephalitis. The danger is that the bite often goes unnoticed and symptoms appear later. So preventive plot treatment matters not only for comfort but for the family's health.

When to treat

The optimal time is spring and early summer, when ticks are most active. The first treatment is usually done once temperatures are reliably above zero and the grass has dried. In peak season and on a large plot, treatment is repeated. Mosquito treatment is timed to their activity — late spring and summer.

How to prepare the yard

  • Mow the grass — ticks sit on tall grass and weeds; short lawn grass holds fewer.
  • Clear last year's leaves, branches, and plant debris — these are shelters and overwintering spots.
  • Clear cluttered corners of the plot and tidy up along fences.
  • Remove people and pets during treatment and until the product dries.
  • Cover or remove children's sandboxes, toys, and dishes from the table.

How barrier treatment works

The specialist treats the grass, the lower tier of vegetation, tree-base zones, the perimeter along the fence, and rest areas with an acaricide — the layers where ticks live. A barrier (residual) effect is created: the product stays on the vegetation and affects ticks and mosquitoes on contact.

How long the result lasts

The effect of one treatment lasts approximately 1-1.5 months, after which the product gradually breaks down under rain and sun. For season-long protection, treatment is repeated. The exact frequency for your plot is advised by the service.

What to do after treatment

Do not go onto the plot until the product is fully dry. For a few days after treatment, do not mow the grass or clear vegetation in the treated zone — that would remove the protective layer. Berries and greens from treated zones are not picked within the stated period.

Personal prevention

  • When walking in grass, wear closed clothing and tuck trousers into socks.
  • After being outdoors, check yourself, children, and pets.
  • Use repellents against ticks and mosquitoes.
  • Keep the lawn short and do not let the plot overgrow.
